Teaching Experience:

During college, Diya held various tutoring positions that fostered her passion for teaching. She has been a private tutor in algebra and chemistry and has served as a virtual volunteer tutor with Reading Partners. Diya tutored K-12 students at The Tutoring Center for over a year and helped them in math, science, and language arts. In the Fall of 2023, she served as a First Year Leader at the University of Texas at Dallas. In this position, she co-taught a first-year seminar class and learned how to develop engaging lessons that met students' needs.

Counseling Experience:

During college, Diya explored different career paths and gained experience in teaching, research, and healthcare. As a counselor, she hopes to share with students the insights she has gained during her journey from an unsure college student to an aspiring dentist. Additionally, during her time at the University of Texas at Dallas, Diya mentored first-year students and helped them as they transitioned into college. She learned the importance of empathy, creativity, and communication in assisting students on their journeys. Diya strives to help students build a toolkit with the skills and resources to ensure their success. She knows how to help students develop discipline, self-awareness, communication, and organization skills to guarantee success inside and outside of the classroom.

Educational/Counseling Philosophy:

"Education empowers students and allows them to build the life of their dreams. As an instructor, I aim to help students grow more confident in their abilities and learn more about themselves through their education. I believe students can achieve their goals by taking ownership of their learning and having a growth mindset."

Interesting Fact:

Diya loves to travel and has recently visited Scotland and the Republic of Ireland!
