"I believe in empowering students to make the best decisions for them and facilitating their ability to get to the places they want to go. A student is always the expert on their situation, and I see my role as finessing applications to display to a student's full potential."
Shira has worked with Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth program for several years, serving in an advisory and mentoring capacity. She has also tutored and edited college applications for nearly a decade.
"When I think back on teachers who've meant a lot to me, the best ones cared about me as a person, in addition to my education and development. I strive to bring that same attention and compassion to my students focusing on skills and knowledge, of course, but also on the whole person and what they want out of the experience."
Shira spent half of 2014 living and working at a holistic retreat center in the woods of the Hudson Valley, New York.
