Cassidy has always been drawn to supporting and uplifting roles for the people around her. In high school she was a head member of a new student mentorship group and continued mentorship roles throughout college. In her professional role at Wediko Children and Family Services, she worked diligently to provide emotional and behavioral guidance to adolescents with adverse life experiences. In her graduate internship at University of Texas, she worked for Communities in Schools to empower students to create and achieve their own academic, social, and behavioral goals. She considers it a great privilege as a counselor to hear about the diverse experiences of her clients, and she is thrilled to get learn about her students through their college essays.
"The college application process can be rigorous, and it can feel daunting at times. However, this process creates precious opporunities for self-discovery. In college essays and exploring colleges, students are called to articulate their strengths, explore their future ambitions, and reflect on the experiences that have shaped them. My goal is to be able to create a warm and focused environment where I can help students communicate their greatness to the college admissions office."
In college classes, Cassidy took charge of forming study groups and peer essay editing. In her mentor roles at Complete Girls Inc. and Wediko Services, she taught communication and professional skills to children and teenagers. As an education minor, Cassidy has always been interested in pedagogy. In her studies, she explored the positive impact that empathy, curiosity and empowerment can have on students’ educational experiences. At Communities in Schools she helped her students with last minute homework questions, grasping challenging concepts, editing essays and teaching students self-advocacy.
"I believe that we are motivated to learn what is interesting to us. I hope to inspire curiosity and creativity in my students when they engage in new material. My goal is to help my students love the process of learning and to feel excited. If a student appears engaged and is asking questions, I know I am on the right track."
Cassidy is self-taught in digital music production and loves cooking for friends.
